Pelican Bay is known for its fabulous parks and nature trails where residents can go to relax or exercise. There are four parks located within the community of Pelican Bay, each one as unique as the community itself.
Spend a Sunday afternoon relaxing by the lake, or take a stroll along the lake trails located in Oakmont. You'll enjoy the serenity of this area as much as the view. Take your children or grandchildren to the playground at this park- you'll enjoy it as much as they do!
It's gaming you'll find at the Commons Park in Pelican Bay. If you're an avid tennis player, or just enjoy an easy game now and then with friends, you'll find everything you need at the Commons Park, where the South Tennis Center is located. If tennis is not your thing, you can go ahead and try your luck at Shuffleboard or Horseshoes.
At Hammock Oak Park, you'll find more tennis opportunities at the North Tennis Center. Enjoy a variety of planned activities with area residents at the Foundation Community Center. Horseshoe and Shuffleboard available here as well.
There's nothing like spending the day in Florida boating with friends and family. At Ridgewood Park, lakes, docks, picnic areas and walking trails are available for your weekend pleasures. Take a ride around the lakes in your boat, or have a picnic lunch- it's all in Pelican Bay.
Spend a day at the beach at Clam Pass
Park located just south of the Registry Resort on Seagate Drive. Visitors
can walk or ride a tram to the beach via a half-mile boardwalk that winds
its way through a mangrove swamp. During your trip down the boardwalk your
presence may be graced by various wildlife including birds and alligators.
The park also features a snack bar, restrooms, picnic tables, and beach
equipment rentals.
With access to over three miles of beach, Pelican Bay offers an exquisite beach going experience. If you love to lay on the sand in the warm Florida sun, you'll love the facilities that Pelican Bay has to offer.
The beach facilities are located at the end of each boardwalk. The south boardwalk entrance is at the Commons. The north boardwalk entrance is at the Sand Piper parking lot entrance in the 6800 block of Pelican Bay Blvd. at the western-most corner of the parking lot. Beach side pavilions are provided to allow residents to enjoy an entire day at the beach. They provide food and beverage service, deck areas, and restrooms with showers and dressing areas.
Two berms separate Pelican Bay upland areas from its estuaries and bays. They serve three purposes: restricting rainwater runoff from entering conservation areas, acting as roadways for trams serving the beaches, and providing a path for walkers, joggers, bikers and skaters. Bikers and skaters must travel at safe speeds. Berms are only open to members and their guests.
The Pelican Bay Foundation provides both canoes and sailboats for the use of their members. You can make a reservation for a canoe at the North Tennis Center. They are located at a canoe dock on the North boardwalk and at the Clam Pass County Park parking area south of the Registry hotel. If sailing is your passion, then you'll be right at home. Sailboats are provided for use on the Gulf of Mexico to Pelican Bay Sailing Club Members. Membership is for experienced sailors who are 18 years of age or older, and the annual fee is a mere $25.00.
Residents of Pelican Bay who enjoy golfing really love Pelican Bay. Whether you're an avid golfer or only play once in a while, the golf course at Pelican Bay will pose a fun and enjoyable challenge every time.
The championship 27-hole golf course was designed by Arthur Hills. The beauty of the course is as enjoyable as the game itself. The nature surrounding it makes your time on the course well worth it, no matter HOW you play that day!
Avid tennis fans will love the facilities at Pelican Bay. The tennis program includes 18 courts, fully stocked pro--shops, round robin, clinics and leagues for all residents. The programs are all managed by the Director of Tennis with a United States Professional Tennis Association certified Head-Pro at each facility. Both tennis centers are staffed by full time Head-Pros available for private or group lessons and clinics. Weekly adult clinics are held at each location. A program for junior players is based at the North facility.
